Nominations and applications are now being accepted for the 2026 OHA awards. The deadline is 31 July 2026.
Winners will be announced at the 2026 OHA Biennial Conference in Adelaide, South Australia, from 3-6 December .
Three awards are on offer:
- the Hazel de Berg Award for Excellence in Oral History
- the OHA Book Award
- the OHA Media Award.

Hazel de Berg Award
This lifetime achievement award is named after Hazel de Berg, one of Australia’s pioneering and most prolific oral historians, who recorded just over 1300 interviews during her lifetime. The award is in its 20th year after first being introduced in 2006.

OHA Book Award & OHA Media Award
Oral History Australia introduced its Book Award and Media Award for the first time in 2019 to encourage innovative and excellent applications of oral history.
To be eligible for the 2026 Book Award, the the book must have been published in the period 1 September 2024 to31 July 2026.

The media award is available to an oral history production in any media other than a book. To be eligible, the media production must have been produced, published, exhibited or performed in the period between 1 September 2024 to 31 July 2026.
