OHA Biennial Conference

Oral History Australia stages a conference every two years in conjunction with one of its state associations. The last time Oral History Tasmania co-hosted the Biennial Conference was in 2022 in Launceston.

The 2022 OHA Biennial Conference featured the theme ‘Oral History in Troubling Times: Opportunities & Challenges’. The conference was initially scheduled for 2021 but the COVID pandemic intervened and it was delayed 12 months. Given the circumstances, we were very pleased the conference could be an in-person event in 2022.

The conference theme invited reflections on the challenges and issues of undertaking oral history in troubling times, and to consider how oral history could illuminate the lived experience of troubling times both in the past and in our contemporary world.

Please see below images from the conference, which was held at the Tramsheds Function Centre and an excursion to the Beaconsfield Mine and Heritage Centre.
